The Effects of Music Psychotherapy Programs upon the Reduction of the Depression of Hemiplegia Patients after Stroke

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to examine the correlation between depression symptoms and self-esteem appearing in hemiplegia patients through advanced structuring music psychotherapy programs. We performed this study targeting 14 hemiplegia patients for about 16 weeks, and here are the results. As the results of analysis on how music therapy programs had the effects upon the depression, the control group showed no meaningful differences in the results of pre-analysis and post analysis. And music therapy programs play a positive role in decreasing the depression and improving the self-esteem. In the qualitative analysis of hemiplegia patients observed by this researcher focused on their active expressions, the patients showed the decrease of negative expressions with repeated sessions during the proceedings of 16 sessions, and showed the state of the increase of positive expressions. In generalizing the results as above, in could be known that the application of music psychotherapy programs reduced hemiplegia patients¡¯ depression and brought affirmative effects in the self-esteem and affirmative expressions.
